摘　　要：麦琪中心遍布英国及海外各地,是一个为癌症患者提供情感支持和药物治疗庇护所,被人们亲切的称作“第二家园”。受到Maggie Keswick Jencks新型医疗建筑设计的启发,他们不惜余力地想通过建筑元素为治疗过程中的患者鼓舞精神,带来正能量。曼彻斯特中心坐落在花园景观中,旨在营造一种具有在地性强的亲切感,你会不经意间在一条绿树成荫的街道尽头见到它,距离克里斯蒂医院及它顶尖的脑瘤科仅几步之遥。Located across Britain and abroad,Maggie’s Centres are conceived to provide a welcoming‘home away from home’–a place of refuge where people affected by cancer can find emotional and practical support.Inspired by the blueprint for a new type of care set out by Maggie Keswick Jencks,they place great value upon the power of architecture to lift the spirits and help in the process of therapy.The design of the Manchester centre aims to establish a domestic atmosphere in a garden setting and,appropriately,is first glimpsed at the end of a tree-lined street,a short walk from The Christie Hospital and its leading oncology unit.
