摘 要:赫钦斯上任前,芝加哥大学的治理存在底部结构过于沉重,治理效率低下等问题。上任后,他进行了大刀阔斧的改革,包括调整院系结构,精简行政管理部门;削弱学系权力,加强院长和校长权力。但是,赫钦斯的改革遭到大部分教师的反对,最终以失败收场。尽管其改革具有现代性和前瞻性,但其相对失败的结果表明,哪怕才华横溢如赫钦斯,如果在改革中不注重领导方式,不正视大学教师的学术权力,面对大学这样惰性极强的组织,改革往往很难达到预期的设想。Before Hutchins became President,the governance structure in University of Chicago had problems such as heavy bottom structure and low governance efficiency.After Hutchins took office,he made drastic reforms,including adjusting the structure of the department,simplifying the administrative department,weakening the power of departments and strengthening the power of deans and presidents.However,Hutchins’reform which was opposed by most teachers ended in failure.Although Hutchins’reforms are advanced and forward-looking,the results of its failure show that even university presidents are as talented as Hutchins,if they are not good at communicating and negotiating with different opinions in the reform,or they fail to face up the academic power of university teachers,it is of great difficulty to achieve ideal result of reform in such inertia organizations like the universities.
