摘 要:文章探讨了英语写作中衔接手段与作文质量的关系,选择了山西煤炭职业技术学院一年级100名学生参加测试。由三名经过培训的评分员根据分析评分法对100篇作文进行评分,之后从中选出15篇高分作文和15篇低分作文。然后根据Halliday and Hasan所提出的衔接特征对15篇高分和15篇低分作文评分。衔接特征包含指代,替换,省略,连接和词汇衔接五种。结果表明,高分作文比低分作文中衔接数量要多,即作文质量与衔接数量高度相关。This paper discusses the relationship between cohesive devices and composition quality in English writing.In this study,100 first-year students of Shanxi Coal Vocational And Technical College were selected to participate in the test.Three trained graders graded the 100 compositions according to the analytic scoring method,and then 15 compositions with high marks and 15 compositions with low marks were selected.Then,15 essays with high marks and 15 essays with low marks were scored according to the cohesive features proposed by Halliday and Hasan.Cohesive features include five types that is reference,substitution,ellipsis,conjunction and lexical cohesion.The results of this study show that the number of cohesion in a composition with high scores is higher than that of a composition with low scores,that is,the quality of composition is highly correlated with the number of cohesion.
