摘 要:以蒙娜·贝克叙事建构理论为基础对《新儿女英雄传》沙博理译本中的主人公形象重塑进行研究,发现译者在构建主人公“牛大水”形象时在副文本和正文本内使用了标签建构、时空建构、文本素材的选择性采用、因果情节设置和叙事累积的叙事策略,主人公的正面形象得到了总体上的强化和情节上的复杂化。沙博理使用这些叙事策略主要是因为受主流意识形态与目的语特定的时空背景、自身翻译观念以及个人情感的影响,他在翻译中适度发挥主体性,既实现了翻译上的“忠实”,也在译本的再叙事中灵活重塑了原文主人公人物形象,这样催生出的译本在一定程度上更加满足了目的语读者的审美需求。Mona Baker s theory of framing narratives provides theoretical support to study the strategies adopted by sidney Shapiro about the image reconstruction in Daughters and Sons.As the study shows,Shapiro has framed the image of the protagonist Da-shwey paratextually and textually by framing by labeling,temporal and spatial framing,selective appropriation of textual material,causal emplotment and narrative accrual.The positive image of Da-shwey has then been generally accentuated through complicated plots.The reasons for his unconscious adoption of these narrative strategies in the translation lie in the mainstream ideology and the specific temporal and spatial background of the target language,his translation concept and personal emotion.In the translation practice,Shapiro gives proper play to his subjectivity in the translation,which not only realizes the“faithfulness”in the translation,but also flexibly reshapes the original image of the protagonist in the re-narration of the target text,thus giving rise to satisfying the aesthetic needs of the target readers to a certain extent.
