Science fiction narrative combines scientific elements and fantasy elements, and is closely integrated with post-human imagination.Starting from the academic history of American science fiction, this paper traces the examination and depiction of“human”in American science fiction, and points out its creative direction from purely safeguarding human subjectivity to reflecting and criticizing anthropocentrism. With Frank Herbert’s Dune Trilogy as an example, this paper interprets the work’s post-human conception of the relationships between man and technology, man and nature, and man and animals.Exploring the depiction of“human”in American science fiction is of certain significance to the perfection of ethical problems in the post-human society and the construction of a harmonious society.
