摘　　要：爱德华·索亚在亨利·列斐伏尔空间理论的基础上,开创了“第三空间”认识论,提出用不同的方式来思考空间的意义。文章以空间理论为基础,研读美国华裔移民作家哈金反映移民生活的长篇小说《自由生活》,分析华裔移民因地理空间、语言空间和社会空间的变化而产生的身份认同危机,指出“第三空间”提供的开放性和混杂性特征,为构建华裔移民身份认同找到了新的途径。Starting from Lefebvre’s assertive spatialization of philosophy,Edward W.Soja proposed his thought-provoking concept“Thirdspace”,which brings about a profound change in the way of studying space.From the perspective of space theory,the restlessness and rootlessness of Chinese American immigrants in physical space,social space,and language space are explored in Ha Jin’s A Free Life,revealing the conflict and struggles in the construction of individual identity.“Thirdspace”,which advocates hybridity and tolerance,is full of significance in the construction of cultural identities.
