蔡襄与佛教关系初探

摘　　要：综合史书、文集、方志等各类史料,阐述佛教对蔡襄的影响以及蔡襄对待佛教的复杂态度:他既与僧人之间有着广泛的交往与合作,又时刻提防着佛教所引发的社会问题。认为蔡襄虽有排佛的一面,但他所批判的只是崇佛行为对政俗造成的不良影响,而并非佛教本身。同时,蔡襄在地方治理中妥善处理了与佛教之间的关系,这一个案对于考察宋代地方层面上佛教的发展状况以及儒家士大夫、地方官群体与佛教的互动具有一定的参考价值。Based on historical books,anthologies,local chronicles and other historical materials,this paper expounds the influence of Buddhism on Cai Xiang and Cai Xiang s complex attitudes towards Buddhism.On the one hand,he had extensive association and cooperation with the monks of his time;on the other hand,he was always on guard against the social problems caused by Buddhism.Although Cai Xiang excluded Buddhism in some degree,he was critical about the bad influence of Buddhism worship on politics and customs rather than about Buddhism itself.At the same time,Cai Xiang properly dealt with the relationship with Buddhism in the course of local governance.Therefore,Cai Xiang s case has a certain reference value for investigating the development of Buddhism at the local level in the Song Dynasty and the interaction between Confucian scholar-officials,local officials and Buddhism.
