Variants and Editing of Matrices and Vectors in Scientific Papers

摘　　要：结合编辑工作实践探讨科技论文中矩阵、向量的蜕变、变体及其编排方式。发现同一变量在理论推导过程中定义为向量,但在数值算例中可能取为标量,即向量的蜕变问题;在特殊条件下,同一篇文章的某一变量既按照向量的运算规则又按照集合的运算方法,出现在不同的算式中,即向量与集合之间的相互转变问题;同时发现,平面或空间曲线、函数族等一般用白斜体符号表示,有时以向量形式出现,需排成黑斜体,即同一物理现象的向量、标量描述问题。针对上述问题,提出了相应的编辑加工方法:(1)蜕变为标量或转变为集合的向量,宜用同一量符号排成白斜体,以表明其属性变化;(2)曲线、函数族的向量、标量表示,仍可采用同一量符号,分别排成黑斜体或白斜体。必要时,关于向量的变体可以在论文中加以解释说明。认为在编辑加工过程中,过分宽泛地使用黑斜体不但增加了排版难度,不利于读者阅读理解,而且也背离了制订相关标准的初衷。This article combines editing work practice to discuss the transformation and arrangement of matrices and vectors in scientific papers.It is found that the same variable is defined as a vector in the theoretical derivation process,but may be taken as a scalar in numerical examples,that is,the transformation problem of the vector;under special conditions,a certain variable in the same article is not only in accordance with the vector operation rules,but also in accordance with the calculation method of the set in different formulas,that is,the problem of mutual transformation between the vector and the set.At the same time,it is found that plane or space curves,function families,etc.are generally represented by white italic symbols,sometimes in the form of vectors,which need to be arranged in black italics,that is,the vector or scalar description of the same physical phenomenon.In response to the above problems,corresponding editing and processing methods are proposed:(1)The vector transformed into a scalar or a set should use the same quantity symbol and arranged in white italics to indicate its attribute changes;(2)Curve and function family vector and scalar representations can still use the same quantity symbol,arranged in black italic or white italic respectively.When necessary,the variation of the vector can be explained in the paper.It is believed that in the editing process,the excessively broad use of black italics not only increases the difficulty of typesetting,is not conducive to readers’reading comprehension,but also deviates from the original intention of formulating relevant standards.
