Quercus mongolica has high economic and ecological value and plays an important role in maintaining regional wood safety and ecological security. In present study, the structure and ecological factors of secondary forests of Q.mongolica of different stand ages in the mountainous area of eastern Liaoning province were analyzed. The results indicated that the diameter distribution of Q.mongolica secondary forests in eastern Liaoning was normal, and the diameter class structure q value showed that most of the stand structures needed to be regulated. The horizontal distribution of the Quercus mongolica forests was random, and the average angular scale was 0.475~0.517.The soil nutrient contents in the secondary forests of Quercus mongolica increased with the increase of stand age,and the soil organic carbon and total nitrogen contents in the mature forests were significantly higher than those in the young and middle-age forests.Based on the principal component analysis of the community composition, stand structure and soil nutrients, the soil nutrients, stand angular scale and mingling state were the characteristic factors of the regional natural Quercus mongolica forests. These results could provide scientific basis for improving productivity and stand quality of Quercus mongolica forests in the Northeast China.
