摘　　要：民国时期著名教育学家谢荫昌的公共图书馆社会教育思想有着很强的代表性,其相关思想和实践对当时公共图书馆社会教育的发展有着相当大的示范和推动作用。谢荫昌认为公共图书馆的社会教育本质属性意义重大,主张公共图书馆实行分类社会教育,鼓励通过创办巡回书库扩大图书馆社会教育范围和效率,以图书分级分类采购推动图书馆对民众教育需求的满足。谢荫昌图书馆社会教育思想对当代我国公共图书馆社会教育职能的进一步发挥具有一定借鉴意义。This paper reviews the public library social education thoughts of Xie Yinchang,a famous educator in the period of the Republic of China,which was typical and had strong demonstration effect for the development of public library social education at that time.Xie Yinchang thought that,public library had the essential attribute of social education and was of great significance,advocating that public library should implement classified social education,encouraging to expand the scope and efficiency of library social education through traveling libraiy,and promoting the library to meet the needs of the mass education by assortment and classification book purchase.Xie Yinchang’s library social education thoughts have certain reference significance for the development of social education function of public library in contemporary China.
