罗振玉与晚清农学的兴起

摘　　要：晚清时,基于“不仕则农”的初衷,罗振玉在汪康年及《时务报》馆鼎力相助下,创办农会,办会刊《农学报》。前期他主要负责对务农会中翻译的西法农书进行修改润色,刊载见报;后期则对《农学报》已连续翻译登载的农书进行整理,并结集出版。在晚清农学兴起的时代进程中,罗振玉全无农学的经验,因办农会农报而被晚清政坛所知,塑造了其“农学”形象,并因此出任“农科大学监督”。他的任职,被御史一再参劾,就此引发日方对“以金石家充任农科大学监督”现象的惊愕。罗振玉在清亡后虽并未继续致力于农业实践,但其开创的农会农报,尤其是坚持十年之久的《农学报》,广泛传播西法农学知识,改变了近代中国“有农事而无农学”的偏弊,开社会重视科学农学风气之先。In the late Qing Dynasty,based on the original idea of"being an official or engaging in agriculture",with the help of Wang Kangnian and the Shiwubao office,Luo Zhenyu founded The Agriculture Journal in Shanghai.In the first stage,he was mainly responsible for revising and embellishing the agricultural books translated from Western France and published in the newspaper;in the second stage,he collated and published the agricultural books that had been continuously translated and published in The Agriculture Journal.In the late Qing Dynasty,when agronomy was on the rise,Luo Zhenyu,with no experience in agronomy,was known in the political circles of the late Qing Dynasty for his work with the agricultural community and the agricultural newspaper,shaped his image as an"agronomist"and was appointed as"supervisor of the University of Agriculture".His appointment was repeatedly impeached by the imperial officials,which caused consternation in Japan about the phenomenon of"appointing a scholar as supervisor of agricultural university".Although he did not devote himself to agricultural practices after the Qing dynasty,Luo’s agricultural newspaper,especially The Agriculture Journal,which lasted for ten years,widely disseminated the knowledge of Western and French agronomy,changing the misconception that there was"agricultural practice without agronomy"in modern China,and pioneering the social emphasis on scientific agronomy.
