摘 要:格尔兹以符号学方法考察地方性艺术,探寻艺术符号的意义生成。他提出以“诗人”的体验和“解剖家”的分析作为艺术符号的探寻立场,以深度描写作为艺术符号的破译方法。以符号学视角,对艺术的生成机制、表达形式、观念和原则进行深层次的解读。然而,作为知其不可为而为之的勇士,格尔兹的艺术研究处于不可调解的矛盾当中。对规律孜孜不倦的追寻,人类学家的双重身份,永无止境的深度描写,让艺术研究陷入深不可测的境地。但正如格尔兹所说,我们别无选择,我们只能一次一次地接近文化持有者的观念世界,直到知性枯竭为止,因为人类学家的使命,就是保存正在消逝的地方性知识,保存富有多样性的人类文化。Geertz investigated local art by semiotics and explored the meaning generation of artistic symbols. He proposed to take the experience of “poet” and the analysis of the “anatomist” as the exploring position, and the thick description as the deciphering method of artistic symbols. From a semiotic perspective, he made in-depth interpretations of the generating mechanisms, expression forms, concepts and principles of art. However, as a warrior who attempted the impossible, Geertz’s art research was in an irreconcilable contradiction. The tireless pursuits of laws, the dual identities of anthropologists, and the endless thick descriptions make the art research into an unfathomable situation. But as Geertz said, we have no choice. We can only approach the conceptual world of the culture holders again and again until the knowledge is exhausted. Because the mission of anthropologists is to preserve the fading local knowledge and preserve the diverse human culture.
