摘　　要：文章在丛全滋先生"推广阅读"新本质论启迪下,梳理和回顾了图书馆本质的相关研究及"本质主义"与"非本质主义"之争,并对图书馆本质探讨的方式及其文化哲学展开思考,以此与丛全滋先生及学界同人切磋和交流。在文化哲学语境下探讨图书馆本质,既契合文化哲学对人与文化本质统一性的认识,也与当代图书馆独特的文化秉性相吻合,可为图书馆学基础理论研究提供一个可资借鉴的文化哲学思维空间。Inspired by Cong Quan-zi’s new essentialism theory of“promoting reading”,the paper sorts out and reviews the relevant researches on the essence of library and the controversy between“essentialism”and“non-essentialism”,and discusses the ways of exploring the essence of library and its cultural philosophy,hoping to exchange views with Mr Cong Quan-zi and colleagues in academic circles.Exploring the essence of library in the context of cultural philosophy not only accords with the cultural philosophy’s understanding of the unity of human and cultural essence,but also coincides with the unique cultural disposition of contemporary libraries,which can provide a cultural and philosophical thinking space for the basic theoretical research of library science.
