摘　　要：20世纪美国著名剧作家阿瑟·米勒的代表作《推销员之死》生动细致地展现了小人物威利·洛曼从面临困境到最终毁灭的过程。基于西方马克思主义理论,对男主角的自杀原因进行了深入分析,并认为其现实意义在于避免此类悲剧在当今社会重演。Death of a Salesman is the masterpiece of American famous dramatist Arthur Miller in the 20th century,which vividly depicts the ordinary man Willy Loman's dilemma and final destruction in detail,arousing strong feeling of sympathy in the audience all over the world.This paper attempts to,under the guidance of western Marxism,find the underlying reasons of Willy Loman's tragic ending of suicide.The significance of the study lies in trying to avoid this kind of tragedy from happening again in our own contemporary society.
