Objective To quantify the effect of skeleton in pelvic on image guide radiation therapy(IGRT)by using the information of displacement of implanted markers from cone beam CT(CBCT)scans for prostate cancer patients before treatment.Method Ten prostate cancer patients implanted with markers received CBCT scan before treatment and the data of displacement of markers in left-right(LR),superior-inferior(SI),and anterior-posterior(AP)direction were recorded. The effect of the skeleton in pelvic on the CBCT calibration was quantified by using the algorithm.Result The average displacement of the markers in three directions(LR,SI and AP)were 0.51,1.33,1.36 mm,respectively;and the quantitative index root mean square(RMS)of skeletal impact on calibration in three directions(LR,SI and AP)were 0.02,0.06,0.07 mm for 10 patients, respectively. Conclusion The skeleton in pelvic has little effect on CBCT calibration in IGRT of prostate cancer, but software and hardware and image processing level still need to be improved.
