摘　　要：国内生态学界对ascendency theory中的ascendency存在9种不同翻译。通过考察其词源词义,发现它具有"上升"及"支配"双重词义。剖析ascendency theory后获得"生长发育;支配、主导地位;升起、上升"以及"势"四种内涵。最终结合术语翻译标准提出"优势理论"是ascendency theory的最佳译词。Nine different translations of the term"ascendancy"are noticed in domestic ecology.By examining the etymological meaning of ascendency,it is found that ascendency has the double meaning of"to rise"and"to dominate".After analyzing ascendency theory,four connotations of"growth and development;dominance;rising"and"potential"are obtained.The term"youshi lilun"is finally proposed as the best translation of ascendency theory in the light of translation standards.
