Objective To investigate the clinical significance of peripheral blood T lymphocyte subsets and serum VEGF levels in patients with gastrointestinal tumors. Methods To detect peripheral blood T lymphocyte subsets and serum VEGF levels in 146 patients with gastrointestinal tumors and 35 healthy controls by Flow cytometry and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay(ELISA)and study the correlation with clinical biological behavior of gastrointestinal tumors. Results The CD4+and CD3+T cell subsets and the CD4+/CD8+ratio in patients with gastrointestinal malignancies were significantly lower than those in the control group(P<0.05),while the CD8+T cell subsets and the level of serum VEGF were significantly higher than the control group(P<0.05).The CD4+/CD3+T cell subsets/the CD4+/CD8+ratio and the level of serum VEGF was positively correlated with clinical stage and the pathological grade(P<0.05).Conclusion The combined detection of peripheral blood T lymphocyte subsets and serum VEGF levels in patients with gastrointestinal tumors provides a possible basis for judging tumor growth status and immune adjuvant therapy.
