摘　　要：《没有指针的钟》中的谢尔曼·登是一个黑皮肤、蓝眼睛的私生子,黑与蓝的矛盾使谢尔曼产生严重的身份认同危机,主要表现在其社会身份和个体身份认同两方面。由于种族歧视和特殊的身世,谢尔曼的社会身份被他者化为社会边缘群体中的边缘人物,社会身份认同出现危机;谢尔曼以蓝眼睛看世界,却以黑皮肤被凝视,“黑人”的自我认知设定了“白人”的非我认同,其个体身份认同亦产生严重危机,最终导致谢尔曼走向毁灭。谢尔曼的经历披露了20世纪美国社会边缘群体广泛的认同危机,具有强烈的现实意义。In The Clock Without Hands,Sherman Den is an illegitimate son with black skin and blue eyes.The contradiction between the black and the blue leads to Sherman’s serious identity crisis:mainly in social identity and individual identity.Due to racial discrimination and special life experience,Sherman’s social identity is transformed into a marginalized fi gure in the marginalized group,and his social identity is in crisis.Sherman looks at the world with blue eyes,but is stared at with the black skin.The self-recognition of“the black”set the non-self identity of“the white”,and his individual identity causes a serious crisis,which ultimately leads to Sherman’s destruction.Sherman’s experience reveals the widespread identity crisis among marginalized groups in the 20th century,which has strong practical signifi cance.
