Alzheimer′s disease(AD)is the leading form of dementia and the fifth leading cause of death in people over 65.The pathogenesis of AD is very complex, involving chronic neuroinflammation and neurodegeneration and affected by multiple factors such as genetics, environment and lifestyle. Therefore, its research progress is slow and there is a lack of effective prevention and treatment means. In recent years,it has been recognized that the gut flora interacts with the brain, known as the microbial-gut-brain axis, which involves metabolic, endocrine, neurological and immune pathways that are critical for maintaining brain homeostasis.Recent evidences have shown that intestinal dysbiosis is related to a variety of neurological diseases and may lead to the occurrence, development and pathological changes of AD through a variety of ways.Although the specific mechanism is not clear, the regulation of intestinal flora through drugs or other means can provide a new direction for the prevention and treatment of AD.
