摘　　要：隔离墙是科尔森·怀特黑德的后启示录小说《第一区》中重要的叙事要素之一。它不仅在小说情节发展中起着重要的推动作用,还具有多重隐喻意义,是理解《第一区》主题思想的关键切入点之一。它喻指美国种族和阶层隔离、美国单边主义外交政策和二元对立思维模式。怀特黑德通过隔离墙这个重要隐喻影射了美国政治、社会文化和外交等领域中无处不在的显性和隐性"隔离墙",对美国社会政治现实进行了深刻批判。小说结尾隔离墙倒塌的情节寄寓了怀特黑德希望实现跨越阶级、种族、文化藩篱的共同体的乌托邦愿景。The barricade in Colson Whitehead’s Zone One is one of the important narrative elements.It not only plays an important role in propelling the plot,but also has multiple metaphorical meanings.As a vital metaphor,it is one of the key perspectives to reveal this novel’s thematic concerns.It is a metaphor for America’s racial and class segregation,its unilateral foreign policy and mode of binary thinking.Whitehead employs this overarching metaphor to allude to the explicit and implicit"barricade"in American politics,social culture and diplomacy,and makes a trenchant critique of American sociopolitical reality.The collapse of the barricade at the end of the novel conveys Whitehead’s utopian wish for building a community without class,racial and cultural barriers.
