摘　　要：江楚编译书局是清末新政时期由两江总督刘坤一、湖广总督张之洞倡议,应晚清教育改革需要,在探索“江宁兴学”中设立的专事编译新式教科书的机构,亦是晚清政府重构统治权威性和政治合法性的重要举措,其设立、发展及编译活动体现了清末新政中的“江鄂”特色,更反映出清末新政时期中央与地方、地方督抚与精英人士以及“新”“旧”势力之间的紧张冲突和权势转移。At the call of Liu Kunyi(Viceroy of Liangjiang)and Zhang Zhidong(Viceroy of Huguang),two heavyweights calling for the reform and transformation of the traditional Chinese state along Western lines,the Jiangchu Translation and Editing Book Company came into being as an agency specialized in translating and editing new-typed textbooks to meet the needs of educational reform in the late Qing Dynasty as Jiangning explored the running of western-style schools.The setup of the company was also an important move by the late Qing government to restructure the authority of its ruling and the legitimacy of its politics.Its establishment,development and translation and editing activities embodied the“Liangjiang&Hubei”characteristics of the governance reform in the late Qing Dynasty.What's more,it also reflected the tension,conflict and power transfer between central and local governments,local viceroys and elites,old and new forces then.
