摘　　要：边缘空间是美国文化批评先驱莱斯利·费德勒文化批评的空间指向。他关注边缘空间,眷注身处边缘空间的不同种族、性别、阶层的群体,挖掘其被潜抑的文化心理诉求。他发现原始大自然是美国经典作品构筑的边缘空间,在边缘空间常上演跨种族的爱恋情节。此隐射出美国人回归天真、期盼不同文化平等交流、实现文化和解、多元文化和谐共处的文化心理。推行多元文化主义,是费德勒文化批评空间指向的文化政治使命。他在文化批评中,对种族与性别主题的潜心钻研、对美国经典文学标准的颠覆,有力地支持了多元文化主义,促进了社会正义的发展。Marginal space is what American critic Leslie Fiedler oriented in his cultural criticism.Her is concerned about race,gender and class of different groups in the margin and delves into the suppressed psychological demands of people from marginal race,gender and class.He finds that primitive nature,the recurring setting in American classic literature,is the margin where the story of interracial love frequently happens.The literary design of interracial love in marginal space implicitly reflects the Americans’cultural psychology of returning to innocence which in turn makes it possible that diverse cultures re-conciliate and enjoy equality,and eventually they coexist harmoniously with each other.Fiedler’s concern of marginal space reveals his cultural and political mission to pursue multiculturalism.His devoted study to race and gender in cultural criticism reverses the criteria of American classic literature,which champions multiculturalism and promotes the development of social justice.
