摘　　要：大学英语是高等教育的有机组成部分,对提升学生个人素养、助推国家和社会发展具有重要影响。囿于偏重理论探索、对历时研究重要性认识不足等因素,学界对我国大学英语的分析多以个体经历总结、回顾为主,从学科发展角度展开的探究相对较少,不利于形成对大学英语发展的全面认识。鉴于此,本文以影响我国大学英语教育发展的全局性事件为依据,将新中国成立以来我国的大学英语教育分为开拓、停滞、恢复、发展、调整、提高和多元发展七个阶段,并对每个阶段的主要特征进行解析,最后结合外语教育实际提出我国大学英语教育当下面临的主要问题,为大学英语教育发展提供参考。As an essential ingredient of higher education, College English Education(CEE) contributes significantly to personal, social and national development. However, research on CEE’s development is mainly undertaken with personal experiences instead of adopting a holistic analysis from the discipline owing to the overemphasis on theoretical studies and negligence of the value of examining CEE’ s historical development. Taking this into consideration, this paper divides China’s CEE into seven developmental stages(i. e., the initiating stage, the suspending stage, the resuming stage, the accelerating stage, the adjusting stage, the enhancing stage, and the diversifying stage), then presents their corresponding features, and last proposes some key issues CEE is facing.
