《墨子》在英语世界的译介与研究

摘　　要：《墨子》是墨家学派的代表作,蕴含了丰富的哲学和自然科学知识,是中国古代最重要的典籍之一。本文基于翔实的史料,从历时的角度,对百年来英语世界《墨子》的译介和研究历程进行了系统回顾与梳理。研究发现,《墨子》英译跨越了节译、全译、重译3个时代,催生了多部翻译经典。英语世界对《墨子》的阐释则经历了神学化阐释、哲学化阐释以及多元化阐释3个阶段。《墨子》英译和传播之旅在某种程度上也代表了中国典籍乃至中国文化在西方文化语境中的生存境遇和话语变迁。The Mozi,the canon of Mohist Ideology,is one of the most important classics in ancient China,which contains a wealth of philosophy and ancient scientific technology.Based on detailed historical materials,this article carries out a systematic review on the translation and research of the Mozi in the Anglophone world for more than one century.It is found that the Mozi has spanned over three periods of abridged translation,complete translation and retranslation,giving birth to several translation canons.The interpretation of the Mozi in the English-speaking world has gone through three stages:theological interpretation,philosophical interpretation,and pluralistic interpretation.The journey of the Mozi’s translation and research in the English-speaking world,to some extent,also represents the survival and change of the discourse of Chinese classics in the Western cultural context and even the Chinese culture on the whole.
