With the increasing prevalence of comorbidity of internet addiction with obesity, it has become a global problem, leading to a serious negative effects on both the physical and psychological health of people of all ages worldwide. In this paper, we reviewed the correlation between internet addiction and obesity, their common causes and possible neurobiological mechanisms. A great deal of epidemiological evidence showed that internet addiction was dramatically correlated with obesity. The underlying framework may be that internet addiction and obesity can improve each other through many mediators such as their unhealthy life habits(low physical activity and sedentary, low sleep quality, high-energy diet and no breakfast) and unhealthy psychological states. The core common mechanism between internet addiction and obesity is the dysfunction of dopamine reward pathway, they has the common neural circuit and molecular basis of reward hyposensitivity, impulsivity increase and emotional disorder. The efforts should be strengthened to the interaction between internet addiction and obesity in order to provide prevention and target treatment of comorbidity of internet addiction with obesity.
