“东西”中蕴涵的地理环境观念

摘　　要：为什么能“买东西”而不能“买南北”?前人解释众多。汇集前人有关“东西”一词起源的解释34种,分析认为“东西”中蕴涵着中国人丰富多彩的地理环境观念,以东—西两极为代表的四方、四时、五行配五方构成了“天人合一”世界观,居安思危、生态文明同样蕴涵其中。Why can say‘mai dongxi’but not‘mai nanbei’(to buy things,use‘east and west’to represent things but not‘north and south’)?Many explanations have been given.Based on 34 previous explanations of the origin of the word‘dongxi’,this paper analyzes that‘dongxi’contains the rich and colorful geographical environment concepts of Chinese people.The four directions,four seasons,five agents and five directions represented by‘dongxi’constitute the world outlook of‘unity of heaven and man’.
