Most of the current media event studies focus on the concept of event boundary and the attribute of social function, ignore that the theory is building-up based on the exploration of events in the unique narrative way of telling stories by the mass media. This paper takes the "narrative" of media event research as the core, and discusses the due meaning and value meaning of this concept. The study found that narrative as a structural system of symbolic resources is not only the construction context of media events, but also the key source of realizing the mythical power in the social center. The elements in the system are redistributed driven by digital technology, resulting in the separation of event semantic function and the transformation of pragmatic relationship. Linking the concept of narrative with the theory of media events is different from the subdivided field of event research by scholars. It is derived from the study of "media events" by Dayan and Katz. Reexamining the analytical perspective of the classical theory of media events, which has a certain significance in methodology and theoretical innovation.
