摘　　要：清初的“历法之争”被以往的中国科学史描述为一次西方先进天文学对中国落后天文学的辉煌胜利,然而这种辉格史式的断言是远离“历史真相”的。这次历法之争实际上是各方利益集团借助知识与修辞的结合以达到权力目的的复杂事件,根本就不是一次纯粹的科学事件。西方传教士、中国儒家保守人士、回回科天文学家、皇帝在这场斗争中都有着自己的利益诉求。最后,知识、修辞、权力以及各种偶然性因素的搅缠突现出一个谁也没有料想到的结局。The calendar debate in the early Qing Dynasty has long been considered a victory of advanced astronomy of the West over the outmoded Chinese science and technology.However,this goes against historical facts,for the event was a tussle between different interest groups consisting of western missionaries,Chinese Confucianism conservatives,Arabic astronomers,and the Emperor himself.Surprisingly,a result out of everyone’s expectation emerged out of the crucible of knowledge,rhetoric,power,and chance factors.
