摘 要:我国古代书院在引领民众遵循儒道伦理、培植民风民俗、维系社会秩序等方面发挥了独特的教化功能。古代统治阶层的奖掖支持、名师硕儒的自觉倡行以及地方士绅的积极参与,共同促使书院发挥社会功能。书院发挥社会教化功能的途径有二:一是通过宣教活动传递道德性命学说;二是通过隐性濡染实现书院教化功能。古代书院的化民成俗之功对我们今天利用学校教育之力广施社会教化具有重要的启发意义。Ancient Chinese academy plays a unique educational role in guiding people to follow Confucianism and Taoism,cultivating customs,and maintaining social order.The support and funds from the ruling class,the advocacy of famous teachers and scholars,and the active participation of local gentlemen have promoted the social function of academy.Ancient academy plays its social educational function in the following two ways:first,it transmits the theory of ethics and life through publicity;second,it realizes the educational function through subtle influence.The ancient academy’s progress in educating people has important significance for us to make the best use of school education to promote social education.
