摘　　要：继其博士论文探讨社群主义对于自由主义的反思之后,加拿大政治哲学家贝淡宁又看到儒家与社群主义之间的很多共通之处,因而对儒学产生浓厚兴趣。他所提出的中国贤能政治模式可以弥补西方民主政治的不足,以及和谐相比于自由的重要性,都在国际学界引起热议。在儒学发展的背景下,需要重新思考儒学的有益价值及其对于当代社会的启示。In the interview, Prof. Daniel A. Bell mentioned again that Confucianism and communitarianism share a lot of things in common, and he is interested in the former for the reason. He suggests that there is a model of meritocracy in China’s politics, which could serve as a remedy to the inadequacies of the democracy in the West. Furthermore, he emphasizes the importance of harmony vis-à-vis freedom. All the arguments have incurred discussions in the world. It is important, as he believes, to reconsider the values of Confucianism and its inspirations for the societies today in the context of development of Confucianism and modernisation.
