不同语境下潮热的英译问题

摘　　要：阳明腑实、更年期、肺痨等皆见潮热。为准确表达不同语境下潮热的特点,作者认为,一般意义上的潮热用tidal fever作为译语较为恰当。若具体指代更年期之潮热或肺痨之潮热,不分语境统一用tidal fever则显得不够精准。更年期之潮热用hot flashes对应,能较好表达其“突发”的特性,肺痨之潮热用hectic fever对应,能较好表达“阳亢”的特点。因此,此种翻译方法是较佳的选择。Tidal fever is seen in excess syndrome of yangming fu-organs,menopause,pulmonary tuberculosis,etc.In order to accurately express the characteristics of tidal fever in different language atmosphere,we believe that tidal fever in the general sense is more appropriate as the target language.If it specifically refers to menopause or pulmonary tuberculosis,tidal fever is not accurate enough regardless of language atmosphere.Hot flashes for menopause fever can better express the characteristics of“sudden”,and fever of tuberculosis can be used for hectic fever,which can better express the characteristics of“yang hyperactivity”.Therefore,this translation method is a better choice.
