A New Interpretation of the Inscription on the Wu Hu Ding

摘　　要：吴虎鼎铭文中“履”后一字,旧一般隶作“[丰廾]”,本文指出应径释作底部加了一横笔的“丰”,这一横笔表示的是地面,其形表示在地面上植树以为地界,是“封”的初文。铭文“内司徒”之名,研究者皆认为是“寺■”,本文指出并不存在人名“寺■”,“内司徒”之名应是“寺仅”,“寺”是国族名,“仅”是私名。铭文“宾内司徒寺■”后面一字,或释作“復”,或释作“璧”,本文指出应释作“徫”。“宾内司徒寺■徫”的“■徫”应该与后文“宾史■韦两”的“■韦”表示同一个词,“宾史■韦两”的“史”指前文的“史囟/西”,“宾内司徒寺■徫”的“寺”指前文“伯导内司徒寺仅”的“寺仅”,皆是承上省略了私名。此外,本文还对铭文的其他字词作了补释并指出了铭末一直被漏释的“用”字。The graph following lv 履 on Wu Hu ding 吴虎鼎 should be transcribed as feng 丰 with a horizontal stroke at the bottom,instead of feng[丰廾].The horizontal stroke indicates the ground,and this character is the original character of feng 封,which represents planting trees on the ground in order to mark land boundaries.The name of Nei Situ 内司徒 should be Si fu 寺仅 instead of Sitao 寺■,because there is no such name.Si 寺 the name of a clan/state,and fu仅 is a personal name.The graph following the phrase bin nei Situ Sitao 宾内司徒寺■ should be transcribed as徫,instead of fu 復 or bi 璧.■徫 in this phrase is the same as the ■韦 in the phrase 宾史■韦两 in the latter part of the inscription.Shi 史 in that phrase refers to 史囟/西 in the text preceding it,and Si 寺 in the phrase is 宾内司徒寺■ is 寺仅 in the earlier phrase 伯导内司徒寺仅.They both omit a personal name from previous inscription.In addition,this article also interpret some other words in the inscription,and transcribes the previously overlooked graph yong 用 at the end of the inscription.
