摘　　要：作为一部历史演义小说,《三国演义》的小说人物形象往往是在历史形象基础上加工而来。作为重要人物之一的刘备,更是被作者刻画为一个宽厚仁义的长者形象。如何客观呈现刘备的形象,是《三国演义》对外译介及三国文化对外传播的关键。罗慕士在其《三国演义》英文全译本中通过正文本和副文本的双向建构,将刘备的小说形象和历史形象展现给了译本读者。罗慕士对刘备的形象建构有助于向西方世界推介中国传统文学和文化,同时也为西方汉学界了解真实的三国时期历史与文化提供了有益帮助。As a historical romance, characters’ images in Three Kingdoms are often processed from their historical images. Liu Bei, one of the major characters, is portrayed as a generous benevolent elder. How to portray his image objectively is the key in the process of translating Three Kingdoms and disseminating its culture. In Moss Roberts’ translation of Three Kingdoms, he portrays both Liu Bei’s fictional and historical image through main text and para-text. His image construction of Liu Bei contributes to dissemination of Chinese traditional literature and culture, and offers help to sinologists in understanding the history and culture of the Three Kingdoms.
