The WRF-Chem model,muti-type observation data and reanalysis data were used to analyze the emission and transport process of two intense dust storms 2009-04-23 and 2010-04-24 dust events in East Asia. The results showed that the WRF-Chem model captured the spatial and temporal distributions of meteorological factors and dust aerosol over the East Asia well. The results indicated that both dust events originated from the Taklimakan Desert and Gobi Desert, but there were significant differences in the dust generation and transport mechanism. The 2009-04-23 dust event was caused by an Mongolian cyclone and strong cold air.Strong wind caused by cold air raised the dust, and the unstable stratification strengthened the vertical transportation of dust aerosols. At the same time, the cold air pushed the Mongolian cyclone southward to transmit dust to Inner Mongolia,Gansu and Ningxia. The 2010-04-24 dust event was caused by a low-level jet and the upper frontal zone, and the baroclinic troughs strengthened baroclinic instability, which strengthened the dust storm. With the baroclinic trough inclining eastward, the dust storm was transported to eastern China.
