摘　　要：《掀翻的桌子》是英国著名作家、艺术家、设计师和早期社会主义活动家威廉·莫里斯创作的戏剧。该剧以法庭闹剧的形式抨击了英国腐朽的资本主义司法制度,并颂扬了社会主义革命运动。莫里斯通过讽寓向资本主义司法制度发出战斗檄文,用现实主义创作手法践行“人民的艺术”的文艺观,以乌托邦风格勾勒理想社会愿景,展现其浪漫社会主义思想、艺术社会主义思想和空想社会主义思想,表达了自己的革命信念,有效地实现了文学性与革命性的有机结合。The Tables Turned is a play by William Morris,a famous English writer,artist,designer and early socialist activist.The play attacks the decaying capitalist judicial system of Britain in the form of a courtroom farce,and extols the socialist revolutionary movement.In the play,Morris refutes the capitalist judicial system by means of allegory,presents a view of art as“art of the people”with writing techniques of literary realism,and delineates an ideal society in Utopian styles.By doing so,he displays his thoughts of romantic socialism,artistic socialism,and Utopian socialism.It is argued that the play expresses Morris’ s revolutionary faith,and exhibits an effective integration of revolutionary ideas into a literary masterpiece.
