摘　　要：本文结合戈德史密斯自身作为文化观察者的经历来探索与《世界公民》起源相关的重要资料,通过充分的文本细读,反思了戈德史密斯关于“世界公民”这一概念的多重解读。同时,文章也探讨了本书的中国主人公在英国的奇妙遭遇以及这些经历所揭示的18世纪英国社会的各种真实境况。This essay explores the materials related to the origin of The Citizen of the World in connection to the author’s own experience as a cultural observer. Through a sufficient amount of close reading, this essay reflects upon Goldsmith’s multiple interpretations of the concept of “world citizen”. It also explores the real conditions in the eighteenth-century British society through the Chinese protagonist’s unique encounters in England.
