摘　　要：“教育家”是蔡元培最为著名的称号,也是他广为人知的身份“标签”,但其足迹、成就和贡献绝不仅限于教育事业。作为贯穿其学术生涯的一个重要方面,蔡元培在译学领域成就不凡。通过梳理和探寻其在译学领域的所作所为,本文发现蔡元培曾译介多部具有重要影响的国外学术著作,提出独树一帜的译学思想,同时围绕翻译活动做了大量富有建设性的工作,为译学等诸多学科领域以及近代中国教育事业的建设与发展作出了突出贡献。其翻译事业不只是个人学术志趣的体现,更是其心系教育、民族和社会的责任感和使命感的直接印证。蔡元培不仅是教育家,也是当之无愧的“翻译家”。Although widely known as a famous“Educator”,Cai Yuanpei has made great achievements and contributions,which are by no means limited to the field of education. Through combing and exploring his translation works,this paper demonstrates that Cai Yuanpei has made outstanding contributions to the development of translation by translating a number of influential foreign academic works,putting forward unique translation ideas,and undertaking a lot of constructive work around translation activities. His translation career is not only a reflection of his personal academic interests,but also a direct evidence of his sense of responsibility and mission for education,nation and society. Cai Yuanpei is not only an educator,but also a well-deserved“Translator”.
