民族精神对美国英语的形成和发展的影响

摘　　要：美国素来享有“大熔炉”及“移民之国”之称,从最早的英国殖民地开始到当今的超级大国,在不断发展崛起的过程中,美国也逐渐形成了自己独特的民族精神。美国英语是英语在长期的历史文化背景与特定的地理环境影响下衍生出的一种变体,美国特有的民族精神引导着美国英语与英国英语分道扬镳并不断前进发展,美国英语在其发展的过程中直接折射了美国的民族精神特点。本文在对早期美国的民族意识的觉醒及美国民族精神的形成发展进行阐述研究的基础上,深入分析了美国民族精神对美国英语形成及发展的影响。The United States has long enjoyed the reputation of"Melting Pot"and"Nation of Immigrants".From the earliest British colony to the present superpower,the United States has gradually formed its own unique national spirit in the process of continuous development and rise.American English is a variant of English under the influence of long-term historical and cultural background in a specific geographical environment.The unique national spirit of the United States guides American English and British English to depart from each other with more and more differences.In the process of its development,American English directly reflects the national spirit of the United States.Based on the analysis of the awakening of national consciousness and the formation and development of American national spirit,this paper comprehensively investigates the influence of American national spirit on the formation and development of American English.
