沈从文《边城》的译者行为探究——基于戴乃迭译本与金介甫译本的对比考察  

On the Translator Behaviour of Shen Congwen’s Border Town——Based on a Comparative Study Between Gladys Yang’s and Jeffrey C. Kinkley’s Translated Versions

摘　　要：《边城》是由中国现代作家沈从文创作的以湘西为背景的中篇小说。文章从翻译内外双维度切入,以《边城》两个英译本为研究对象,对戴乃迭和金介甫两名译者进行译者行为探究。从翻译内维度对比分析戴、金两译本在词汇、句法、修辞方面的英译处理,戴乃迭对原文本的处理更多体现了“社会人”属性,译文务实度更高;金介甫则更表现出“语言人”特征,译文求真度更高。再结合翻译外维度讨论译者行为合理度,两位译者的译内行为差异与其译者角色、翻译观、赞助人等因素密切相关。Border Town is a novelette set in Western Hunan written by modern writer Shen Congwen. Taking the two English translations of Border Town as the research objects, this paper makes an analysis of the translator behaviour of Gladys Yang and Jeffrey C. Kinkley from perspectives of intra-translation and extra-translation. In the part of the intra-translation analysis, differences between the two translations in aspects of the lexical, syntactical and rhetorical translation will be revealed and analyzed. In terms of intra-translation,Yang mainly shows her identity as a social being with her translations are more “truth-seeking”;while Kinkley mainly demonstrates his identity as a linguistic being with his translations are more “utility-attaining”. And then, the degree of rationality of the translator’s behaviour of Yang and Kinkley will be discussed according to the dimension of extra-translation. In terms of extra-translation, the distinctions between the two translators’ intra-translation behaviours are closely related to such factors as translator roles, translation views, sponsors and so on.
