摘 要:过去20多年,党建工作在民营企业逐步扩展和普及。通过对全国私营企业调查数据的分析,本文尝试检验非公党建的慈善捐赠效应。研究发现如下。第一,党建能够显著提高民营企业的慈善捐赠水平。建有党组织的民营企业无论在捐赠意愿上还是捐赠规模上都显著高于未建有党组织的企业。第二,与官方机构互动和接受更多官方政治引导是民营企业中党建驱动慈善的两种主要机制。党组织不仅增强了民营企业与官方机构的互动,也提高了民营企业接受官方政治引导的机会。第三,作为新兴的补偿性的政治联系,非公党建的慈善驱动效应是非均质的。它在原有政治联系较少、市场化程度较低的环境中更能发挥促进慈善的作用。这种党建驱动的慈善不仅丰富了企业社会责任研究的内涵,也为官方非公党建的开展提供了实证支持。This study stems from our observations of two recent developments in China’s private economy.The first one is that over the past forty years of economic reform,the private economy has grown from nothing to a strong and vital component of China’s socialist market economy.With their increase in economic strength,China’s private firms have become increasingly active in the field of corporate social responsibility,such as poverty alleviation,environmental protection,and disaster relief.Another important development has been that since the twenty-first century,Party building has gradually expanded and been popularized in China’s private sector.In particular,since 2012 the Communist Party of China( CPC) has explicitly required that all qualified private firms establish Party branches and that they carry out various Party-related activities.Therefore,the CPC has become an integral organizational component of China’s private firms.This study attempts to connect these two developments in China’s private sector,that is,to examine the impact of Party building on the charitable participation of Chinese private firms.Most of the existing literature on corporate social responsibility among Chinese firms has been conducted from the perspective of the entrepreneurs’ market strategies,political motivations,and self-interested incentives.This literature argues that private firms’ charitable donations are mainly utilitarian-driven,helping them to enhance their corporate images,improve their relations with governments,and ultimately enrich their business market value.This article analyzes Chinese business philanthropy from the perspective of Party building.Our main research questions include:Does Party building promote charitable donations by Chinese private firms? Under what circumstances can Party building promote corporate donations? And through what mechanism does Party building influence corporate donations?Based on CPES 2012 data,this study finds that a “Party-driven philanthropy” model widely exists in Chi
