摘　　要：高职生源类型多元,英语基础薄弱,学生英语口语存在哑巴英语现象;教师重讲授,轻演练,教学评价要素单一,缺乏口语考核内容,难以调动学生学习英语口语的积极性。为此,高职英语教学需要研制口语考核标准、重组教学内容、加强课前课中口语训练、实施口语考核、注重课后拓展与反思。This essay makes an analysis of the present situation of oral English teaching in higher vocational college from two aspects that may result in dumb English phenomenon. One is the students’ different levels and poor foundation. The other is the monotony of teaching assessment, lacking of oral English assessment and neglecting students’ participation in class. It is necessary for teachers to discuss the criteria of oral assessment, reorganize teaching content, enforce oral English training before and in class, implement oral English assessment and lay emphasis on knowledge expansion and reflection after class in order to improve students’ oral English level.
