Adolf Fisher,an Austrian who was born in a large famous industrialist family in Vienna, has devoted his life to collecting East Asian artworks and establishing an independent East Asian art museum for Germany, thus he had become an important pioneer and legend in this field. He was close to painters of the Vienna Secession, which influenced his understanding of Japanese and Chinese art as well as the practice of establishing a museum. As a result, his collecting path and research methods differ from the authoritative scholars of the German National Museums and universities,so that he was rejected by them.During the three years living in China as a diplomat,he studied Chinese diligently, weaved a business network and found new purchasing channels.Although his collections were not in toplevel,he has eventually created the first East Asian Art Museum in Germany on his own, which has great impact until today.
