The historical evolution of Chinese entrepreneurship presents three kinds of distinct characteristics:spatial heterogeneity,“wave-like”process and the uncertainty of regional inheritance.Based on the investigation of entrepreneurial activities in different regions in different periods of history, the research proposed the hypothesis of the inter-temporal inheritance and evolution of entrepreneurship, and further provided empirical evidence. The empirical results showed that the business gangs of the Ming and Qing Dynasties, the entrepreneurial activities of the late Qing Dynasty and the Republic of China,as well as current regional entrepreneurial spirit all had a significant sense of inter-temporal inheritance, and the business gangs of the Ming and Qing Dynasties had a significant positive impact on the entrepreneurship in following periods and the individual entrepreneurial choices nowadays.Besides, the differences in institutional quality have played a significant mediating role in the evolution of entrepreneurship, which also determined the development trend of regional entrepreneurship to a certain extent, that is,prosperity or regression.
