Object ive To investigate the effect of modified radical mastectomy with intercostal brachial nerve(ICBN)and anterior thoracic nerve(ATN)preservation on the pain and upper limb function of patients with breast cancer. Methods 106 patients with breast cancer treated by modified radical mastectomy in our hospital were randomly divided into 2 groups,53 cases in each group, from March 2019 to March 2021.Both groups were treated with modified radical mastectomy for breast cancer.ICBN and ATN were retained in the observation group, but not in the control group. The visual analogue scale(VAS)and upper limb functions were compared between the two groups. Results Three months after operation, the upper limb mobility of the two groups was lower than that before operation, but that of the observation group was significantly higher than that of the control group(P<0.05).At 1 and 3 months after operation, the VAS scores of the observation group were significantly lower than those of the control group(P<0.05).Conc lusion The modified radical mastectomy with ICBN and ATN preserved is effective in the treatment of breast cancer.
