摘　　要：作为怀特海过程哲学第四代传人,大卫·格里芬博士在人类思想发展史上的卓越理论贡献主要体现在以下六个方面:一是明确提出我们应该抛弃现代性,否则我们及地球上的大多数生命都将难以逃脱毁灭的命运;二是明确提出“建设性后现代主义”概念及其基本特征,并以之区别于“解构性后现代主义”;三是明确提出“后现代科学”概念,以之区别于“现代科学”,并说明现代科学的根本性弊端;四是明确提出“解开世界之死结”的哲学解决方案,试图超越西方哲学传统中唯物主义和唯心主义的长期对垒,坚持世界的过程统一性原理;五是明确提出“新珍珠港”概念,以“9·11”事件为契机揭露当代帝国主义和新殖民主义妄图称霸世界的本质;六是期待“21世纪要成为怀特海世纪”,预示了人类哲学思想从实体哲学向过程-关系哲学发展的新趋向。Dr. David Ray Griffin, the fourth generation inheritor of Whitehead’s process philosophy, has made a remarkable contribution to the development of human thought in six respects. First, he holds that we should abandon modernity, otherwise we and most life on earth will hardly escape the fate of destruction. Second, he puts forward the concept of “constructive postmodernism” and its basic characteristics while distinguishing it from “deconstructive postmodernism”. Third, he uses the concept of “postmodern science” to separate from “modern science” and explain the fundamental disadvantages of modern science. Fourth, he provides the philosophical solution of “untying the knot of the world”, trying to transcend the long-term confrontation between materialism and idealism in the western philosophical tradition, and adhering to the principle of process unity of the world. Fifth, he proposes the concept of “New Pearl Harbor” against the backdrop of “9.11” attacks to reveal that the nature of contemporary imperialism and neocolonialism is to dominate the world. Sixth, he hopes that the 21st century will become the Whitehead Century, which indicates the new trend of the development of human philosophy from entity philosophy to process-relation philosophy.
