Climate Change around 4200 Years Ago and the Contribution of Bo Gun’s Flood Control to Chinese History

摘　　要：关于鲧(伯鲧)治水,自然科学家利用现代科学技术对全新世气候记录分析后得出结论,表明在距今4 200年前后,全球气候发生突变,受北半球气候事件的影响,中国境内发生了一次长时间大面积的洪灾,直接影响了中华文明发展的进程。而《尚书》《史记》等历史典籍,记载了从颛顼开始到大禹为止数百年的治水历程。科学数据与传世文献的相互印证,表明尧舜禹时期治水活动的真实存在。其中大禹的父亲伯鲧正是在此期间主持治水的关键性人物,在赞誉伯鲧对中华民族做出重要贡献的同时,更应汲取宝贵的历史经验,为今所用。As for the legend of Gun(Bo Gun) Controlling Flood, natural scientists made use of modern science and technology to analyze the Holocene climate records and draw conclusions. Around 4200 years ago, the global climate changed suddenly. Influenced by the climate events in the Northern Hemisphere, a long-term and large-scale flood occurred in China, which directly affected the development of Chinese civilization. Shang Shu, Historical Records and other historical books and records recorded the hundreds of years of flood control from Zhuanxu to Dayu. The mutual confirmation of scientific data and historical documents shows that the flood control activities really existed during the Yao, Shun and Yu periods. Among them, Bo Gun, Dayu’s father, was the key figure in charge of flood control during that period. While praising Bo Gun’s important contribution to the Chinese nation, we should also learn valuable historical experience for today’s use.
