视觉化审美趣味的过滤与《论语》翻译中的变异——以蔡志忠漫画《论语》英译本为例

摘　　要：本文以蔡志忠漫画《论语》英译本为例,从美学角度出发,分析《论语》翻译中的变异与视觉化审美趣味的过滤因素之间的关系。研究发现,在视觉化审美趣味的驱动下,蔡志忠及其译者通过漫画这种美学形式,对《论语》这部中国古代厚重文本进行不同程度的过滤处理,导致《论语》漫画英译本中核心概念词的“具像化”、“复调”的叙事方式和诗意语言的“平面化”,使之符合“读图时代”接受主体所表现出的视觉化审美倾向。By taking the comic English version of The Analects by TSAI Chih-chung as a case study, this paper analyzes the relationship between the variances and filtering factors of visual aesthetic taste in the translation of The Analects from the perspective of aesthetics. The study finds that driven by visual aesthetic taste, TSAI Chih-chung and the translator filter the ancient Chinese masterpiece to varying degrees through the aesthetic form of comics. And such an approach makes the comic English version of The Analects concrete in words, “polyphonic” in narrative pattern, and graphic in poetic language, in conformity to visual aesthetic preference of the subject in “photo-reading era”.
