明晰化视角下的《后维多利亚时代人》的汉译难点分析

摘　　要：威尔逊的《后维多利亚时代人》自2005年问世以来国内尚无中文版出版,知网与其他网络资源未见讨论该书汉译问题的文章。近二十年来,国内明晰化翻译手段的研究文献很丰富,但是,多以英汉互译例证分析支撑来解说什么是明晰化,明晰化有哪些分类,有什么功用,对于使用明晰化翻译手段来攻克繁难文史类英译汉翻译难点的研究不多。从明晰化角度来对《后维多利亚时代人》的汉译难点进行分析,探讨如何利用明晰化翻译手段,帮助译文读者适应原文作者旁求博考、针砭时弊的修史技法与含蓄幽默的语言风格。分析显示,明晰化手段确实有助于攻克繁难通俗史类原著的语言与文化上的限制性与抗译性给翻译带来的困难,可以有效地规避拙译与误译,提高译文的流畅性和可读性。文中分析验证了明晰化翻译手段对于攻克文史原著英译汉难点的实用意义与理论意义。No Chinese version of Wilson’s After the Victorians has been published in China since its release in 2005, and there are no articles discussing its translation on CNKI and other online sources. In the past two decades, there have been abundant researches on the explicitation technique in China. However,they are often supported by the analysis of examples of E-C/E-C translations to explain what is explicitation, what are its classifications and what is its use in guiding translating. Moreover, there are few researches on the use of explicitation to overcome the difficulties in the translation of complicated literature and history books. This paper analyzed the difficulties in the Chinese translation of After the Victorians from the perspective of explicitation, and explored how to make use of explicitation to help the translation readers adapt to the original author’s historical techniques of seeking historical truth from extensive sources and criticizing the social maladies as well as the implicit and humorous language style. The analysis of this paper showed that explicitation is indeed helpful to overcoming the difficulties of translation brought by the linguistic and cultural restrictions for translation contained in complex popular history works. It can effectively avoid the clumsy translations or mistranlations, and improve the readability of the translated works.This paper validated the practical and theoretical significance of explicitation in overcoming the difficulties in E-C translation of the popular history works.
