摘 要:文化身份的认知与建构是美国华裔儿童文学的核心主旨,“唐人街”这一族群文化空间在文学中发挥儿童族裔身份“孵化器”的重要作用。林语堂、赵健秀、叶祥添等华人作家的唐人街童年叙事从儿童视角出发,对边际夹缝地带、家庭代际关系和故事隐喻空间中交织的诸多问题进行了不同方式的揭示。他们对族裔文化根系进行发掘、发扬甚至重构性的“发明”,在流散空间中扮演了文化转译或重塑的角色,彰显了中华民族文化、精神和品格的魅力。这些作品体现了作家们建构文化身份的不同立场、途径和旨归,为边缘族群在文化夹缝中建立文化自信和主体自洽提供了多种镜鉴。The cognition and construction of cultural identity is the core of Chinese American children’s literature.Chinatown,as a social ethnic space,plays such an important role as it works as an incubator of children’s ethnic identity in literature.Childhood narration about Chinatown by Lin Yutang,Frank Chin,Laurence Yep and other Chinese American writers depict the interwoven problems in the in-between zone,intergenerational relationship in a family and the metaphorical space of the story in different ways from a child’s perspective.They explore,develop,and even“invent”the ethnic cultural roots through reconstruction.Their works play a role of cultural translation or remodeling in the diaspora space,showing the charm of Chinese culture,spirit,and character.Reflecting different standpoints,approaches,and purport of constructing cultural identity,these works provide a good reference for the marginal groups to establish their cultural confidence and self-consistency of subjectivity in the cultural gap.
