摘　　要：钱兆明是美国新奥尔良大学资深英美文学教授,现代主义与东方文化研究创始人。他的《东方主义与现代主义》(1995)激发耶鲁大学在1996年举办了“现代主义与东方文化”研讨会;他的《中国美术与现代主义》(2003)促使剑桥大学在2004年举办了“东方主义与现代主义”研讨会。在本次访谈中,钱兆明教授梳理了现代主义诗歌跨文化研究的一些关键议题,包括他在近著中提出的新概念“相关文化圈内人”“相关文化圈内人”研究与互文性研究的关系以及在跨文化、跨领域文学研究中将二者结合的必要性。钱兆明教授深知互文性研究的重要,但他还是强调了“文本”必须与“人本”兼顾。Qian Zhaoming is Professor of English Emeritus at the University of New Orleans. He is a founding figure in the field of “Modernism and the Orient” studies. His Orientalism and Modernism(1995) inspired the 1996 Yale conference on “Modernism and the Orient”. His The Modernist Response to Chinese Art(2003) stimulated the 2004 Cambridge conference on “Orientalism and Modernism”. This interview addresses a number of important issues in the studies of East-west literary relations, such as “the interlocutor from the target culture”, a concept he proposes in his East-west Exchange and Late Modernism(2017), its relation with textual studies, and the necessity of combining the two in studies of intercultural, interdisciplinary literary works. While recognizing the usefulness of textual studies, he emphasizes the importance of shifting from the text-centered approach to one with attention to both the text and the author’s interaction with people like “the interlocutor from the target culture”.
